What is Idea Pond?

Idea Pond is a place where Toad for Data Analysts users can tell the TDA development team what new features they would like to see in future releases. Users can also vote on others' ideas to help choose the most popular suggestions.

Toad for Data Analysts' development has always been driven by its customers, and that's why we want to hear from you. It is important to us to understand and focus on the new features and enhancements that are most important to you.

Idea Pond is for enhancements only. If you want to report a bug, please contact Quest Support. If you have a question about the Toad for Data Analysts Freeware or Beta editions, please post your question on the TDA Community site at http://tda.inside.quest.com.

Should I Register or Sign In?

Use Sign In to register using a Yahoo, Twitter, or Google account. Use Register to register if you do not want to use a Yahoo, Twitter, or Google account.

How do I add an avatar (profile picture)?

You can use Gravatar.com to add an avatar or profile picture. The sign-up process is very easy: just register the email address you use to login to Idea Pond, select a username and password, upload a picture, and click on it to assign the picture to your profile.

How do I change my email notification settings?

When you log in to Idea Pond, you automatically subscribe to the Weekly Digest, a list of new ideas for the week. In addition, you will receive a notification when someone comments on an idea you posted or when your idea's status changes. You can change your settings to receive an email notification whenever a new idea is posted, or you can completely opt out of email notifications.

To change your email notification settings

  1. Sign in.
  2. Click on your name in the upper-right corner of the Idea Pond window.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Select the desired Notification Type.

What does an idea's Status indicate?

Each idea has a status associated with it. The status indicates where, in the voting/reviewing/implementing process, the idea is.

Active This is the default status for new ideas. Users should continue to vote and comment on the idea.
In Review The idea is being reviewed by the development team.
In Progress The idea has been approved and is being implemented by the development team.
Complete The idea has been implemented in Toad for Data Analysts.
Closed The idea is already available in Toad, has been rejected by the development team, or is a duplicate of another idea.

How many votes must an idea receive for the Dev team to approve it?

There isn't a magic number that guarantees your idea will be approved. We generally wait to see how well an idea is received before we consider implementing it. In other cases, if we see a great idea that we can implement easily, we may approve it soon after it is posted. We will update the status as soon as it is approved or implemented, and you will receive an email when your idea's status changes (unless you have opted out of notifications).

Can I use my Toad Yahoo Group or Quest Support account to log in?

You can use a variety of accounts to log in to Idea Pond, including Yahoo, Twitter, and Google. Click Sign In (not Register) to use one of these accounts. If you already have a Yahoo account for the Toad Yahoo Group, you can use that account to log in to Idea Pond. Quest Support and TDA Community accounts are not supported at this time.

What does the number in the Implemented In field mean?

When we implement an idea, we add the version/build number of the TDA product release in which the new feature is available in the Implemented In field.

What do the tab headings Popular and My indicate?

Popular: The Popular tab lists the ideas ordered by number of votes.
My: The My tab lists the ideas submitted by you.
